Historical sweet spot. Quietly. When traveling like silence - got, enjoy. For the past year, rested on the first line of Sunny Beach, a little crazy is not gone. Not to say that we are calm and quiet lady. Also make some noise at night like. So conceived quiet town of Nessebar. And so well in peace, but when wanted noise, went to a disco in Sunny Beach so many times, thanks to a taxi, no problem, and move along the coast can be calm, without looking back. To be honest, did not regret not ever that chose Nessebar. Discovered too many times Bulgaria in new ways, from a different angle of view.
i have been to old nessebur several times and just cant stop going back. i love the scenery, i love the people, i love the food(only 2 resteraunts tho.. old anchor and panarama) everything is very cheap and i could recommend it anymore than i already do. i love this country and one day would seriously consider moving there!
We have an apartment in Sunny Beach which we let out. Although we like Sunny Beach, we never miss going to Nessebur when we are there. However, try to visit the town out of season as there is, we think, a much better atmosphere. Without all the shops selling tourist 'tack' (essential to the economy we agree) it really is a lovely old town to explore and enjoy. We never fail to find something new! Don't leave without walking right round the town wall below the town. We could live in Nessebur!!
i have been to bulgaria 14 times and i love the place. nessebur is such a beautiful place with wonderful scenery and great people all over. i have stayed in different resorts but sunny beach is my favourite. i would reccomend bulgaria to anyone.
But be aware where you change your currency. When you enter the city gate of the old town of Nessebar on the right side you can find a museum, then you may see an old house hosting a cafe Whodini and some shops etc. In the same house there is also an exchange office with good exchange rates. But in fact if you are not very careful the guy who is working there will cheat you out of money. So you will have to be very careful if you want to change money in that office!

i didnt find nessebar all that i heard it was a most vist we decied 2 get the boat out and found it very expensive for the boat there were lots of resteronts so i would say if your going go for your dinner the food was nice in the restront we ate in looking out on 2 the sea the we went shopping but i didnt find the shopping very good ther they have lots of shops but sell the same thing in most as we were leafing we had some1 fallow me which i have a felling was a pick pocket but i said it out load 2 a friend and he just walked of then but he was devenly fallowing me for about 20min i would say watch your self there and stay with friends then we went to get a taix be carefully as we were aproced by a man pretending 2 be a taxi overing us 20 levs back but he was not a taxi check for signs on the car before getting in we found reall taxi renk but make sure 2 agree a price before getting in dont go on the meater we paid 30 levs comming back but i still did not find it all that good.
Hello, i am a from Romania, i was once in Nessebar, i liked very much , it's a beautiful place, it's a paradise. It's a town in a old stronghold.... very nice place..i will never forget this town!
a gorgeous place to visit and if you like fish you'll love the food. the people are friendly but have little english the shopping is to die for i had to buy an extra suitcase so if your going to bulgaria bring an empty suitcase ! oh and a good thing the price on the tag is the price you pay so you dont have the hassle of tring to bargan them down if you dont want it they try make you buy it
The Old Town is beautiful and quaint - the old cobbled streets and houses are comprable to any other area of outstanding cultural value in Eastern Europe (e.g, Dubrovnik). The fish restaurants are outstanding (try Chernodop!) and there are efforts to restore ancient churches..... But the atmosphere and ability to rest and relax and enjoy the cultural heritage of this ancient city is destroyed by very loud and out of character noise from Techno music which screams out from open air discos immediately situated beneath residential areas ALL night long for weeks on end throughout July and August. If you want to sleep at night old nessebar is not the place for you at least for this this year. Maybe things will change in the future lets hope so!
Anyone visiting Sunny Beach etc. must must must take a trip or in my case a few trips too see the absolutely cracking place which is Old Nessebar.
Take the bus and don't be ripped off by taxi drivers who are unscrupulous to a ridiculous level.
The people of Nessebar are very freindly and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking amongst the many ancient ruins and very old streets etc.
The Old Nessebar Pub and restaraunt (Pinko is the man who runs it) on the shore front at the edge of the Old Town is a must for any traveller with fine food, brilliant and ever attentive staff and scenery on their beach terrace that will relax even the most stressed out person where if early lunch etc. is your forte you may even see the wild dolphins feeding yards from the beach (amazing).
All in all I couldn't praise Old Nessebar any more than it does for itself as this was my families first visit to Bulgaria and stayed in Sunny Beach we have already made plans to go back late summer but this time we plan to stay in Old Nessebar itself as we fell in love with the place.
I'll "STOP" now as I could go on all day but this wee pace is a must see and no visit to Bulgaria would be complete without a look see.

The little cobbled street, the shops, the causeway, the gorgeous sunset over there, and being serenaded with bagpipes at the gate......what more could you want??
The old part is one of he most beautiful resorts we have ever visited well worth staying as close to as possible small cobbled streets filled with resturants shops and stalls very friendly people and very cheap to eat and drink.
I vistited Nessbar and Old Nessebar in July of 2004. The food was great, the scenery was great, the history of the area very rich and interesting, the people very nice. I would definately reccommend everyone to visit this wonderful area off the Black Sea.
Hello ,I was last year in Nessebur and i think it is a one of the best places of the world, and I thin everone must go and try, there are so cheap and best food ,and nice people very very pretty girls and good clubs, I think everione must try it, because will have a good time there.
Stayed in Old Nessebar 2 years running back in 97/98. Would love to return and see if the place had changed any. Would like to recommed The Sevina. Went there for breakfast every morning and had a great view of the beach below and the beautiful Black Sea.
If you are looking for an excellent meal in Nessebar then why not try out some of the follow, we have been to bulgaria for a number of year and would recommend to anyone to eat in these places as the food is good and the service is even better.
A great place to visit if you are looking for a wonderful time. The beaches were very stunning, the old part of Nessebur was gorgeous and the nightclubs were plaing beats. People were very outgoing and friendly. Good time --> Good memories!!!!
I't been 2 year since we visited Nessebur. We loved
the sights and sounds.Everyone treated us very
well.I someday would like to return and visit the seaside....
It is Eighteen years ago since we spent a wonderful holiday in Nessebur staying with a lovely Bulgarian family. What a picturesque and relaxing place it was and we were made to feel more than welcome in comfortable and traditional surroundings.
This year we are planning to return. I am aware of how the place has changed over the years, however I am sure the welcome of the people and the beauty of the area will have not suffered.
Bulgaria is such a lovley country. My family and i had a realy nice time there. I would go there every year because its just lovley and the people were very nice too.
Beautiful old town a must see for all visitors to Sunny Beach. All the ruins of old churches are worth finding. Some very good eating places would recommend The Old Anchor in centre on main st, and Yassen just off centre.
