Four kilometers south is KITEN, a smaller
version of Primorsko and just about as tacky. Known to the ancient Greeks
as Urdoviza, Kiten does have some nicer secluded sections, principally around
the beachfront Kremikovtsi Hotel, undoubtedly a leftover from the days when
vacationing bosses felt the need to distance themselves from the vacationing
masses. The Ralitsa tourist agency (#25 Iliya Boyadzhiev St, tel 561-2724),
offers private rooms ($6 per person), transfers from/to Bourgas airport,
excursions in Bulgaria and Turkey, and accommodation in the Hotel Ralitsa
($10-11 per person in a double or triple room, breakfast included), situated
one hundred meters from the beach. All rooms have individual baths and balconies.
Immediately south of town is the newly-privatized o"Hotel Gardenia
(150 beds in double and triple rooms, tel 2861) occupying a quiet secluded
grassy knoll overlooking the sea. A former two-star Balkantourist hotel,
the modem, white-stuccoed facility was renovated in the spring of 1997.
For proximity to Kiten and Primorsko, without actually having to stay in
either, this may be the best bet. Two campgrounds are also in the area:
Kiten and Yug. Both have seaside locations but the latter, a half-kilometer
east off the main road, has better facilities and a nicer setting. Yug (administration
tel 3061) shares a cozy beach with the nearby Hotel Gardenia and its expansive
grounds allow for widely-spaced tentsites ($1.50) and bungalows (25 with
baths, $6 per person; 30 without, $3 per person).

| I have been on holiday to Kiten for the last 2 summers and both times I have had a great time. Great beaches and the locals I met were all very friendly. Many good restaurants and bars but alot of these close mid September so making the town very quiet after this. |

| I spent a week in Kiten with my family. The smaller beach facing Primosrko is wonderful for kids because of the calm water. The village has been over-built in recent years, but is still charming. Street merchants add a tacky Balkan flavor but this can be fun for a week or two. Great natural setting; hopefully the construction craze will subside soon. |

| I was in kiten for 2 weeks with my Bulgarian friends! The best place on the entire bulgarian-coast. We went to Sunny Beach one Night but it was really boring compared to Kiten! I'll come back as soon as possible. |

I've spend a wonderful holiday, together with Bulgarian friends in Kiten. Kiten is a nice, lively small town. Many hotels, hundreds (?) of restaurants and also lots of food&drink outlets and (souvenir) shops.
Some disco's and carnival attractions. Life goes on into the early hours.
Only 1 bank and no ATM. (Available in nearby Primorsko).
Number of english speaking local people limited. Some knowledge of Bulgarian advisable.
