We stayed at the Zornitza Hotel for 2 weeks at the end of June 2003. The hotel itself is ideally situated in the centre of Sunny Beach but is not affected by any of the noise from bars and restaurants. There is some noise from the hotels own restaurant and a restaurant at one end of the hotel for some of the rooms, however, this all ends at 12.30 am.
The rooms are very spacious, as is most of the hotel. There are only 4 floors and the hotel is set amongst grass and trees. There is a play area for children and the pool is lovely and clean. There are sun beds available, however, at the time of out visit we were charged 3 levs each (equivalent to about £1.20) per day.
The hotel is predominantly occupied by Germans, as are pretty much all the other hotels in the resort. espite this, there were always sunbeds available by the pool! The beach was less than 5 minutes walk away, which I think is where most people must have gone although there was always lots of space on the beach too.
The hotel does not suffer from road noise as the main road is not close enough and there is very little traffic in the resort of Sunny Beach as cars are not permitted in the resort unless it is for the purposes of getting to work or coaches bringing in guests.
The hotel itself was kept very clean, our cleaner was very friendly, although she couldn't speak any English she always gave us a wave and a smile. Unfortunately the reception staff were not so helpful. None of them spoke much English and they were mostly miserable, especially in the restaurant upstairs where we had breakfast.
One other point to note is that the curtains in the rooms were very thin. We also had a light outside our room and it sometimes made it difficult to sleep. There is also no outside light on the terrace/balcony and if you happen to be on the ground floor as we were there are no railings so you can't hang anything out and it would be no good for young children.
Despite some of our little gripes we very much enjoyed our stay in the Zornitza and we are already considering a return visit in the near future. When compared to some of the other hotels we saw it was definitely in one of the best locations and wasn't built up too much. Breakfast was fantastic with a large variety of food to choose from such as fruit, bread, cheese, meats, savoury and sweet things and also cooked food.
Wonderful hotel in beautiful grounds. Majority of staff (especially cleaners) are very polite & friendly, but staff who clearly rank themselves higher (receptionists) can be abrupt and unapproachable.
Poolside sunbeds are charged for; even for guests!
English guests are treated less favourably than German, but would still recommend, even if only for its enviable location.
I will tell you why this hotel is the worst one we have ever stopped in in bulgaria. The pool was dirty it had beetles wasp flys in it a big brown mark round the side of the pool it was disgusting. The kitchen is dirty. The staff on reception are dam right rude and very very ignorant. Also thomas cook have now pulled out of this hotel what does that say.
