J Sumner | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Beofre going to the Victoria Palace, I was getting quite worried after reading the many bad reviews. For anyone who is gong to be staying in the Victoria Palace don't worry. The hotel is lovely, the people and staff were very friendly. Our room was very spacious (for 4 people) and was clean. The hotel is very clean. The food is edible and was surprisingly hot. If you get your table first and then get your food you will be fine. Sunbeds are a bit of a pain but if you ask the life guard they will remove unused beds after half and hour. We got 4 beds every day the life guard just removed towels for us. They have now stopped people putting towels on the beds before 8.00 a.m. which was great.
The hotel is positioned at the end of the ([+]view more) resort right on the beach - it is lovely. It is known to be the best in the resort.
There are loads of shops (shoppers paradise), bars and restaurants. It is a very clean and safe resort.
As someone stated earlier on the comments page, some people will find things to moan about and are not happy unless they are moaning. Please don't worry we have a great 2 weeks with no problems at all. The weather was good, the sea was warm - one tip take a fleece or jumper as at night it does get rather breezy and you sometimes need something round your shoulders.
Have a great time and ignore the bad comments.

Chris | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Got back from 2 weeks staying at the Victoria Palace and just thought I'd sum up the good and bad points (in our opinion!) of the hotel: Good points: 1. Rooms - these are excellent. Very large, spacious and extremely clean (as is the rest of the hotel and indeed Sunny Beach). 2. Pool - large and very clean. 3. Appearance of the hotel is very grand, sort of "Vegas" style. 4. Maids / Staff - keep the whole hotel spotlessly clean. Bad points: 1. Food - breakfast is fine even if it's a bit busy, but the evening meal, what can I say! - without doubt the worst excuse for food I have ever experienced. I'm sorry but I can't see how some people can say it's good. It was nearly always cold (How can the waiter bring a fresh supply of a certain ([+]view more) food and it still be cold by the time you get it back to your table??!). 2. Sun beds - for a hotel that can have 1,200 guests to only have about 250 sun beds is poor in my opinion. Although if you go down to the pool around 7.45 can get one - but I didn't really want to be doing that each day! 3. I think that the hotel is a bit too big for it's staff / facilities to handle everything. Overall though we had an excellent holiday, Sunny Beach is great: very clean and lots to do and although the food in the hotel was unacceptable, the choice of restaurants and the quality and price of their food made sure that this didn't spoil our holiday. We would go back but if we did we would definitely stay at the Helena Sands / Park resort which is a couple of hotels up from the VP. It seemed very nice and more "tranquil" than the VP. Having checked out the hotel last year whilst on holiday we were quite impressed. Now having stayed there we are still impressed. There is room for improvement we agree, but I don't think it is as bad as some make out.Yes the food is poor, we knew that so we took extra money to eat out. The hotel was always being cleaned and our room was lovely. The staff were always very helpful and the first choice rep was fantastic, the bar staff were ok, not sure on their uniforms though (John thought they were great!!) The resort is great having been there for the last 6 years it was good to see new places open. The only problem with the hotel is that it was too far away from the ([+]view more) centre other than that it was a great holiday and we can't wait to go back to Sunny Beach next summer. Hotel is visually fantastic - but there are drawbacks as written by other guests below. Lack of seating in the restaurant, milk/cereal bowls/tea bags etc. always running out. I can report there were no problems with towels, maid service was excellent, fire extinguishers were all in place on 6th floor and my bathroom was fully fitted. The room was huge and very comfortable. However, you need to remember you are visiting a country that up until fairly recently, was Communist and consequently, their culture and way of life has been very different from ours.  All the ingredients are here for a fanatastic holiday (both in this hotel and the country as a whole) - it just ([+]view more) needs shaking up and organising! The beach is wonderful and cleaned every day and the hotel is spotlessly clean too. We spoke to many Bulgarian people during our stay and they were mostly charming and very friendly. We never intended to eat in the hotel in the evening, so I cant comment on the dinner menu. It was really cheap to eat out though - 4 cocktails,  2 bottes of wine, 2 main courses and one dessert - with tip - under 20 English pounds!! Dont come here if you're looking for red carpet treatment all the way - but do come here if you want to experience something a little bit different. And dont consider staying in any hotel under 4*. the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the evening meal, which could have been more varied and hotter, but the resturants and bar offer lovely food which is cheap and hot. Beach is clean and there are plenty of sunbeds, didn't bother with the sun loungers at the pool, not enough of them.
Would reccomend Bulgarie and Hotel to anyone which we already have done and would certainly go back ourselves.
