I stay at this hotel several times a year, as we are building villas in the neighbouring village of Blitznaci. It provides good clean comfortable accomodation at a very reasonable price. To me, this hotel is what Bulgaria is all about - none of the packaged false facade of the tourist resorts. The staff are very helpful, even if you do have to play charades to make yourself understood on occasions!!
If you do go, try and get a room on the side overlooking the Logoza Forest - great to wake up with the birds and the sea in the background. There is a new owner who seems to be refurbishing floors at a time, by putting in air-con, etc, etc. Two bars - staff great - one restaurant.
Down at Kamchiya, there are several good places to eat, and as it is mainly Bulgarias that visit, the prices are very good. The beach is clean but not overcrowded and shows all the signs of being a future resort in it's own right. Most menu's are in bulgarian & English, so you find the English and point to the BG equivalent, although there is a very helpful lady with good English called Dida at the main restaurant opposite the jetty for the boat trips up and down the river.
Overall - I appreciate that this is not what some people want, as they expect satellite tv, etc in their room but I think it is a great base to stay at and represents the real Bulgaria. |
