I have stayed in various places around the world, i have stayed in third world countries and I have stayed and survived at the Alen Mak!!!
It has to be the worst hotel in the world, i have never seen a tourist group revolt and demand
to leave en mass. my wife and I could not tolerate the disgusting state of the rooms, a fellow traveller found insects in her bed, the food was covered with flies, the walls were covered in flies, the carpets were dirty, the beds were very hard and very dirty, and the staff (with the exception of the admin manager who was extremely helpful) were rude and not at all interested, and as for the owner who sat at 8 oclock in the morning drinking with some russians had no interest in her guests or their welfare.
My advice to you dear traveller is avoid the ALEN MAK at all costs no matter how cheap they advertise it, no matter what deal they throw in, it is also a rip off as they charge nearly three times the cost for a beer as they do locally. |

We have just come back from 2 weeks stay at the Allen Mak hotel (we stayed in the older 2* section) a lot of the comments on this hotel are very old and I guess from them that this hotel has improved quite a lot in recent years.
I think when you go here you need to bear in mind that it is a 2* the general standards everywhere in this area seemed to be lower than UK and other Western European resorts. Yes the rooms in the 2* section of the hotel are basic but with the lovely weather that isn't really a great problem - the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fully functioning - maybe not luxurious.
The staff were friendly and pleasant.
The pool was really lovely.
There is a cable car running all day down to the beach for those who don't like walking up hills (though it isn't as bad as mentioned - I am rather unfit but it didn't bother me).
The bedding and towels were changed several times during our stay.
There is a nice outside barbeque area and bar.
The children's pool looked very pleasant and the kids seemed to enjoy it.
Paying for the sunloungers isn't the end of the world works out about £1 and really you don't have to rent a lounger to go in the pool or sunbathe there.
The bus service was brilliant - very regular and it worked out about 50p to either Varna town or Sandy Beach - can't complain!
It was nice to be outside the resort and not have all the noise and 'theme park' feeling - also drinking and eating out was a lot cheaper at Chaika Beach and up behind the hotel near the university was even cheaper.
There are now - no prostitutes in the bar.
The breakfast was not wonderful and didn't very but at the price we paid I really couldn't knock it.
If you want air conditioning go for the 3* section but if you are not bothered about that the 2* section is fine. |

| My wife and i have just returned from two week's holiday or meant to be from Stalag (7), sorry mean ALLEN MAK it is the worst holiday we have ever been on, the place is the pit's, we were given another room which was not any better than the first one, the bedding was changed once in two week's towels twice in two week's and that was only because we complained also we were ill for five day's the first week and im sure that was down to the sanation i wonderd what the basin was lying in the so called bathroom was for it not take long to find out, also the breakfast was reasonble if you did not like flies with your meal it was ok and the, dog's you would not have to be scared of dog's they were going a round in pack's and it is mile's from anywhere you have to get taxi's all the time all i can say is if you go on AOA IN THE VARNA AREA you stand a good chance of endingup in Stalag the (7) sorry meant the ALLEN MAK. | what is all that about we stayed at the alenmak hotel and it was wonderful NOT. the place was filthy, dirty carpets, stinking toilets, the food i would not give to dogs, the pool area was not very clean, the baby pool was disgusting it had rubbish floating in it and there was a banana peel in it for 2 days, beeding and towels was not changed for 9 days i still dont think they would of been then only for i complained. my daughters toilet did not flush properly, we were in the middle of nowhere if they call that picturesque woodland well. There was a pack of dogs around the pool area ever day, cracked windows everywhere,we were in the middle of nowhere therefore we had to get taxi's everywhere, we had to pay for the sunlounger's around the pool area, there was meant to be a fitness center we had a bench and 1 set of dumb bells which we had to pay to go on and where the hell was the so called barbeque i think they are planning to set fire to the place and having one big one haha it would do us all a favour if they did. |
