Irene | 3 out of 3 found this review helpful A void this hotel 2 star at best. Looks great food same slop daily. Rooms dirty bath n shower dangerous. Booked sea viiew n balcony got a room with a window opened 2 inches. Cant get a sunbed. Staff rude and scruffy pool icy 1 restraunt. All inclusive bar ran out of drinks. Res like a zoo catering 4 whole hotel. NEVER AGAIN Every one wants money for nothing. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Reggie Ben Yosef | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful Hello to all. Have just returned 3/10/10 from Sunny beach and have been hosted in Victoria Palace Hotel. We enjoyed very much the hotel. The food was not bad but I would have loved varieties of dishes for breakfast. Every day it was served the same. The rooms were great but you have to pay more attention on the clean towels given. The make-up o f other peoples face were not washed carefully. It happened twice and it was quite a disgrace to have such towels. Anyway the staff was nice and I would recommand the staff to know more about places tourists may host and be more familiar with places on the map. And as for the hotel to supply itself ([+]view more) with maps for the tourists to know where they are located. All the best. Reggie Israel Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Irish Babe | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Just returned from a week in VP. The public areas (bar, pool, lobby) were beautiful and very relaxing. The accommodation was basic 3 star standard, but is cleaned on a daily basis. The food in the restaurant however is just awful, and I'm not a fussy eater. It was just the same slop over and over again, so we ate out a few nights and had a much better time when we did. The pool situation is as every has said, not enough beds, and people must be up at the crack of dawn to reserve them because we never got one. But the beach is just across the road and the water is so warm in the sea it's much nicer down there. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No ANGY | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful We have just returned from Victoria Palace after two weeks and I must say we enjoyed our stay very much. Food wasn't the best tho in the hotel, but outside the hotel there was a fab little steak house with brilliant staff who loved the kids.... (situated in the Marvel Hotel) Staff in the VP were not very pleasant at all, very ignorant at times. Cleaning staff were immaculate and very friendly even tho they couldn't speak much English. We were in Sunny Beach last year and we are going back next year but staying in a different hotel. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Kelvin Beardsley | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful My wife and I stayed at the Victoria Palace for two weeks in May and without doubt it is the best hotel in Bulgaria. The rooms are fabulous as is the public area's. The hotel is on the beach and very close to the many shops and bars to be found in 'Sunny Beach'. Bulgaria is a lovely place and the people are so friendly and helpful as are the staff at the Hotel. Nothing was to much trouble and the conditions were spotless. We like Bulgaria so much that we bought an apartment after the first week and will be returning in September. We will of course visit the VP, sit by the pool and soak up the atmosphere. Amy | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful We have just come back from our holiday and we loved it! The hotel was excellent, the maids came and cleaned everyday and the pool was lovely. My only negatives would be the amount of sunbeds around the pool. I noticed people from other hotels coming to our pool and taking up sunbeds because Vic Pal had by far the best pool- this was very annoying!!! The hotel is stunning and is decorated tastefully witha safari theme. We didnt manage to get a seaview room, they are allocated on arrival and its pretty much pot luck. although we asked all the rooms were full, therefore anybody wishing to book make sure u request a seaview room before u ([+]view more) go just incase u dont get one. The food was good, some days better than others. We only ate dinner at the hotel twice because there are so many restaurants in the resort to try and its fairly cheap. The hotel is on the beach front a short walk from the main strip where all the bars/clubs/restaurants are. I recommend the excursions, khans tent was brilliant! We feel a week wasnt enough to fit im everything we wanted to do so we plan on going back next year for more!! Was this review helpful to you? Yes No sarah | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Hotel was lovely, right on beach, food is ok, but plenty of bars and restaurants, try flipipopls(think thats the name) a two min walk to the right of hotel when facing beach, its on the beach, food is lovely. Spa was great highly reccomend it! jet skis right outside 50lev for 20mins fab!!!
cleaners were great, left the room for 10 mins went back everything was done.ha. Hotel in nicer part of the strip, about 20-30min stroll from centre and market but bars, shops, restaurants all way down.
Very cheap, would go back again in few years to see how well the country had come on.
Hotels very grand and wow, and surrounding hotels suchas majestic and helena sands look good too.

Tanya | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful Just returned from a week at VP and it was absolutely fantastic. The hotel is stunning and I cannot fault it at all. Ensure you make use of the fantastic SPA at the hotel and I highly recommend a Turkish Bath ! We are booking to return next year and I am looking forward to it already. Highly recommended and I cannot fault it at all. The Bars & Restaurants close by are also very good and the food and drink is very inexpensive. Having read some comments on this website before I went to VP I was a little concerned but certainly highly recommend it and the resort itself ! Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Eirebabe76 | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful I am very surprised at the negative comments as we stayed there in May last year and like it so much we came home and booked again for this year.
Lovely staff, lovely room with a beautiful sea view. Food was plentiful and with a good choice but the resort is so cheap you can always go and eat out a night or two if you want. Anyone that has booked for 2007 please don't worry. Our experience was great.

Irina | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful It's a wonderful hotel. Reading the complaints of ohter people, we were amazed, because we've been very lucky: all peolple of the personnel were friendly, the room was cleaned daily, the swimming pool and the Spa were absolutely wonderful, the weather was fine. Prices are ridiculous. Food was good. An advice: take breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and dinner in one f the numerous fish restaurants in Nesseabr, a delightful medieval city, at only 9 km. away from the hotel. We've spent Easter in Nessebar and we felt quite well. We shall undoubtfully return to Victoria Palace. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No steve | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful our initial delight at this magnificent building soon faded as we quite quickly discovered the staff at the hotel were ignorant, unhelpful and downright rude, if you complained they would often just shrug and walk away and if you pressed them for a response they would shout at you. and for goodness sake don't try the food it is absolutely dreadful, always luke warm and under cooked, the chicken and pork dishes usually partly raw. the menu was repetative and same as day before but presented slightly different or with another sauce but always bland. eat out its safer, tastier, and dirt cheap, and the restaurant people are as a rule friendlier. There was always a very wide variety of food which catered for different tastes. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Tess Brown | 1 out of 2 found this review helpful I took my 6 year old neice on holiday to Bulgaria and stayed at the Victoria Palace Hotel. I have stayed in 4 & 5 star hotels often and have to say that this hotel should not be classed as a 4 star hotel. The food was disgraceful, and most days tepid, you could never get cutlery and the staff where rude. The beds where changed very rarely and the sevice was much to admired. To be classed as a 4 star hotel is quite frankly false economy. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Eleanor McLauchlan | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful Just back - October 06. Marian Durning | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful We went to this hotel in July 2005 and it looked fabulous but the food was awful. My husband and I both ended up with food poisioning 5 days into our holiday. The beds were changed only when we made a fuss and for a 4 star hotel this was very poor. If you are thinking of going to this hotel think again. It looks good but it is all superficial. Was this review helpful to you? Other hotels no problems. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No david miskelly | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful just spent 2 weeks at this hotel the hotel when you first arrive looks amazing and the room are of a high standard. But is was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The food was always cold and for the rating of the hotel I do not think you should have to eat chicken burgers or fish fingers. You could not find a knife and fork, and when you did if you took it from the wrong place you got shouted at by the staff and told to put them back. In the morning there was very few cups and no saucers and most days you had to use plastic cups for coffee, (that is if the coffee machine had been filled and they were working). The staff were very unhelpful ([+]view more) and rude and the only staff who were friendly were the chambermaids. Thomas Preston | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful A lovely place, with lovely people, and loads and loads of lovely sun loungers and the biggest, lovliest chandalier i have ever seen in the whole of my lovely life....just lovely Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Mary | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful So glad to see others complaining about this 'sham' of a place. Do yourselves a favour and stay away. I booked 3 double rooms for hubby and myself and two sons and their friends. Victoria Palace is not doing much to promote hospitality for Bulgaria - I would never go back. Hotel staff downright rude - all except one or two of the chambermaids. VP Overbooked on first night and sent us to Chaika Hotel - horrible smell in that bedroom - vice trade parading from sundown til sunup at the back of this hotel. Eventually after much waiting and arguing with manager of Chaika we got our rooms sorted in Victoria Palace the following morning. Little ([+]view more) did I know I should have stayed put! All Food atrocious - tried one breakfast out of 9 - all one could eat was fruit - if you put your toast on the table (if you could find an empty one - which was never clean) and went to get tea/coffee - your toast was swiped by the time you got back by very grumpy staff. Every single person I met - English, Scots, Welsh, German, Irish etc. were all complaining - I did not find one who was happy staying there. My son's wallet was stolen and my Olympus digital camera was stolen from the hotel lobby table. The security guard insisted that the security cameras only covered the main doors - I thought this was really odd in a place so enormous. No sunbeds, 1 bath towel per day between 2 adults. Tried for room service 3 times (just for cups of tea) and still waiting. The place just has not got enough staff to cope with so many guests. 4 out of 6 of us were ill with tummy bugs for 2-4 days so watch out! I will be making my views known to travel agents in my locality about this place - it should be closed down. The staff in general do not know the meaning of hospitality! On the plus side of Bulgaria - Nessebar was gorgeous and quaint - great atmosphere - nice food even though we were served main course and then starters! Long live the Irish hospitality which is 10 star in comparison. Was this review helpful to you? The hotel is spotless as are the rooms which are also a great size. When we arrived and we saw the massive shower i was just like wow. Quite a wait to get booked in. Our family room, a414 was huuge and everything was so clean and the decor was beautiful. My pull out bed was not v comfortable so i dnt advise it if you have a bad back.
The Swimming pool was lovely to look at as Claire, Ian and Leah said and was cleaned regually but it was sooo freezing!! I managed to get into the water after about 10 minutes of shivering!!
The weather couldn't have been better regually 30 degrees a few cloudy days and two thunder ([+]view more) storms and one bit of rain but that was fine.
The Spa was really lovely. I had a facial, full body massage and a mini turkish bath..the pfrices were about the same as england unfortunately.
Everything was sooo cheap out side the hotel..Bottle of beer 50p!! My dad liked that :P I got lots of gd presents for friends. But I couldn't just browse in a stall because someone will grab you and like force you to buy something.
The beach was nice, very calm sea in the morning rougher at night.
The food at the restaurant was not fabulous. My mom got food poisining frm the self service restaurant. So we stuck to the a la carte restaurant with the half board menu . Shopska salad was on the menu everyday. No choice for vegetarians for main meal. I usually had chicken or pork but had to leave it because it was raw.
The waiters/waitresses usually would like tips..But its very confusing how you pay someone you have to pay the waitor who served you or otherwise they get peeved.
Lots of people coming round trying to get pics of you with snakes crocodiles, bears :( etc...
We saw two beggers, one of them had no legs :(
Go to Nessebar its beautiful!! I suggest pod lozata for a restaurant.
Restaurants are rli nice and cheap out of the hotel so eat out!!
Go and see the fire dancer!! Its soo kl
Over all this was the most amazing holiday I ever had. Ignore the bad comments its just snooty people who expect to much when they get there..stuff them!!

The hotel is very clean, the staff are very friendly and the hotel itself is like something u would see in beverly hills{very nice}. the food is nice nothing incredible but edible and plenty of it. however if i had to complain about 1 thing it would b the pool. Unless u want to get up before 7 in the morning u will not get a bed and the beds on the beach work out at 10 euro a couple per day. There is a hotel next door called the condnor where u can hire 2 beds and a brolley for around 2 euro a day which i would recommend as their ([+]view more) pool is lovely. all in all the holiday was brill and i would advise anyone going to bring an empty case as it is a shoppers paradise. The sun terrace/beds was very busy but if you cant beat them join them! I used to get up about 7/7.30ish and go down to get beds for myself and my family, but I didnt mind, the sun was shining I wanted to make the most of my holiday. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No reg | 3 out of 3 found this review helpful Stayed at this hotel with a party of friends in Sept 04 and having just acquired a computer went into this sight to see if others had experienced what we experienced. I have never been so disappointed as I was with this most impressive looking hotel. One should not expect at a 4 star hotel to have to collect your food from the self service food containers and thereafter proceed to microwave your chosen dishes in the microwave ovens provided, the fact that they are there speaks volumes. If you manage to acquire a tea spoon on your first visit to the restaurant at breakfast - hang onto it as you may never see another. My friends and I gave ([+]view more) up on the restaurant after 2 days of our 14 day stay and ate out at one or other of the places in the resort. These are very inexpensive so this unexpected extra cost to our holiday was not an issue. It was very difficult to find a table or at least one that had been cleared from earlier occupants and the lady supervisor was rude as well as being most unhelpful and inefficient. As mentioned in other reports the rooms are huge and in our case well serviced by obliging rooming staff. The poolside facilities were a joke - not a sunbed to be had and the reception staff would not accept that the promised supervision to ensure that these were not comandeered well before 6am was never adhered to. However the beach beds and parasols were available for a small charge on the beach just over the road and the beach was very clean but the vast number of jelly fish in the water was a concern. Back to the hotel - the "pub" and the a la carte restaurant were never open during the whole of our stay and we could not get any of the staff or the rep to explain why. It was rumoured that this side of the hotels was subsiding - shock horror! Drinks ordered in the louges took an age to arrive by staff whose attention it was very difficult to attract. We therefore did most of our drinking at the next door Belleview Hotel where the service was excellent by staff who offered their sympathy that we had been duped into stay at the Victoria Palace. On my return home I contacted our tour operator who as well as expressing regret, submitted a voucher for a reduction on any subsequent holiday booked through them (Eclipse/First Choice) but I suggested they should instead seek to ensure that this hotel is not featured in future brochures. I am disappointed to see that the Victoria Palace is still being offered to unsuspecting holiday makers in their publications. My final comment is that it will be some years before Bulgaria can claim to provide satisfactory holidays to discerning holiday makers and in order to do this I suggest they despatch tourist inspectors to Italy, Madeira or even Spain to fact find what constitutes acceptable standards. V.P. the most luxurious hotel I have ever seen. However don't be fooled. The Hotel is yes a superb looking hotel but I'm afraid it doesn't deserve it's 4-5 star rating. The food was awlful 8 out of the 14 nights we ate out There was a Jacket Tattey store which we had taken ownership of untill one night we came to the store to find dead flies in all the garnishes and butter. This made me physically sick to see that we had been eating these everyday for dinner and tea. What made it worse was the fact that the owners wern't evern trying to hide them. We had paid extra money for a balcony which ([+]view more) we had to share, you wern't alowed to sit by the pool bar unless you bought a drink, It was impossible to get a sunbed by the pool. You had to pay to use the indoor swimming pool and the sunbeds on the beach which belonged to V.P. Towels were limited but the cleaners were excellent. However floors were like ice rings very slippy and dangerous. The entertainment was the same lady playing the same theme tune evey night. The waiters were rude but reception were helpfull. A real let down weather great thoxx

After 3 days of trying the menu we gave up and ate out. The food in the resort was lovely. Getting a sunbed was impossible. There is a sign saying no towels to be left on the beds but we could only assume that no-one in the hotel could read and sunbeds were booked by 6.30 am every morning probably by people coming in from the pub. There was usually hardly anyong in the pool until about lunchtime. Was this review helpful to you? I can honestly say hotel is impressive, staff were friendly and kept it really clean. Food got a bit boring after 14 days but its cheap to eat out. The hotel did not serve mash potatoes but there is stall behind hotel which does excellent baked tatties with cheese. I would go back but not for 14 days! I Have fond memories of being thrown into the pool at 5am. If your not a big complainer you will love this hotel! Was this review helpful to you? It doesnt cater for guests round the pool (not enough sunbeds!) There also isnt enough seating in the dining area.

Rooms are very spacious, even a little dining table if you order room service!

I recomend using the spa, some lovely treatments available!

Be prepared for the weather, we had 5 bad days out of 14! Also watch out for beggers, they will have the clothes of your back if you let them!

A Paterson | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Just returned from staying at the Hotel Victoria Palace, the hotel is a palace but the food is luke warm but there is always the micro -oven( I kid you not) there is nothing for the children except the pool also no entertainment at night. beware of the chipped mugs. the biggest shock I got is when turning over the mattress on the last day of the holiday. it was very badly stained about a quarter of the matress, I don't know if it was blood or whatever, I will always check both side of the matress in future holidays. The hotel staff were very nice and I think the Bulgarian People are very friendly. the beaches are good and clean. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Violet | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful I have just returned from my second trip to Hotel Victoria Palace and am trying to book again for next Summer. You could not fault the cleanliness of the hotel with maids constantly cleaning 24 hours a day. The food has improved since last year although it has to be remembered that they are catering for a large hotel and a wide range of tastes (British, Bulgarian, Italian, German, etc). The general staff are so friendly and at the bars adults and children are treated like old friends (especially the poolside bar) by barmen and waitresses who always make time to be friendly. The spa this year has been so improved with a wide range of treatments ([+]view more) for all (adults and children), where you are treated like royalty and where they actually have English speakers this year. The rooms are so luxurious and spacious, especially the appartments. On the the negative there is no entertainment although there are plenty of bars and resteraunts which are cheap enough in the resort, it is not wheelchair or buggy friendly although there are plenty of lifts and now a ramp at the front of the hotel there are a lot of steps and 2 (1 very steep) bridges on the way to the pool or the exiting the hotel on the beach side. If you want a sun lounger you have to be very early as they go fast (especially since some nearby hotels charge for theirs) and the rule that if your lounger is empty for an hour or more then the towels will be lifted is not always executed. It is a bit more expensive to purchase alcohol at this hotel. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Julie Harvey | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful I have returned today from Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach, (18.06.05). I would like to reassure anyone going to Sunny Beach, that despite some building work, most of this was restricted to internal, and noiseless work. The building work made no impact on our holiday at all. We were a party of mum, dad and two children aged 7 and 4. We had a pleasant holiday. Victoria Palace is a good hotel, with extremely spacious family apartments. Any holiday is not without its problems, and in this case, the bedding and sheets do not fit the beds, they are too small, although the beds are comfortable. We had to check out at midday and were not to ([+]view more) be collected until midnight. We were told a room would be available for us to shower and change in later in the day, this did not happen, we were told it was in use by someone else, and we could change in the toilets, which we did. There was an option to keep the room until 8pm, for 80 levs. We felt this too expensive, although had we been offered the room until midnight, would have taken it, as the late hours are the time children need to rest. The hotel has a superb outdoor pool, but the indoor pool is 20 levs per person per day, unless you are paying for treatments in the health spa, then the use of the indoor pool is free. There is no entertainment in the hotel for families. There is a Casino and a few bars in the hotel. Our children are at an age where by day they are happy playing in sand, and swimming in the sea and pool. At night we found a bar "Amigo" with a slide, swing and climbing frame. There are also lots of bouncy slides along the sea front, and bungee jumping for children, and adults. Sunny Beach as an Aqua Park, and Hotel Kuban has its own water park, which costs 15 lev per person per day. Taxi drivers are waiting to rip you off, we got caught out by one who when we asked for a price for a taxi from Nessebar 3 miles away, he assured us he would be using the meter, so we could rest assutred the price would be reasonable. However, at the end of our 10 minute journey we were told the cost was 50levs, despite objecting to such a rip off, he just said we should secure the price before hand next time! Of course, after that we used the local bus, very reasonable, a bus ride to Nessebar costing about 30 pence. Also the little train only costs 1.5 levs per person, and is a good way to get from one end to another. The resort itself isl lively, without catering too much for the young lager louts. There are a lot of families, and retired people in the resort, and particularly at Victoria Palace Hotel. There were no loud groups of men or women. The restaurants are mostly excellent, though we paid for half board, we eat out all week, apart from breakfast, this because we have expeirenced tepid buffet food in previous hotels, and were informed by others, that the food was not very pleasant. Also it is cheap to eat out. We were paying around 36 to 40 levs for four meals and drinks, we were getting 2.5 levs to the pound. The beach is sandy and the sea is clear. It costs 18 lev for two sunbeds and one parasol for the day. The beach has many people selling there wares, so it sometimes gets tedious, having to keep saying no to the same people on and off all day. On the whole we had a good holiday, just right for one week, any longer and we would have been bored, because we don't enjoy spending all day every day sunbathing, but for those who do, this is a perfect place. The other thing to say is, there are not enough beds around the pool, and some guests get up at 6am to reserve beds with their towels. For this reason, we never managed to be up early enough, and had to settle for sitting on the floor on towels, or sitting at the tables near the pool at the pool side bar, and ordering drinks. At 3pm in the afternoon you can sometimes get a bed when those who have been there since 6am get fed up, however, the pool closes at 5pm. This suited our kids, who were cold after a couple of hours in the water anyway. If you have booked a holiday at Victoria Palace, I think you will have a lovely time, and you have nothing to fear, but the taxi drivers and the sunbed occupiers. Happy holidays. number 2:The indoor swimming pool my friends and I cut our toes and I still have a scar.
number 3: If VP is meant to be a family holiday I sugest they get some entertainment for children because the only thing for children to do is swim and you can't swim at night can they?
number 4:The 4th and final thing is the showers they leaked. Everytime ([+]view more) I went into a shower the floor was so wet you could swim in it.

The hotel is fab and the rooms very comfatable and spacious, There are loads of facilities close to the hotel so lack of entertainment in the hotel is not a problem, infact it was great to go back to a hotel with no blaring music and have a quiet drink in either the poolbar or one of the other bars inside the hotel. the food is okay enough variety for you to find something to eat. the staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful the same goes for the maids who clean your room. Kevan Bryce | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful i thoroughly enjoyed my holiday in bulgaria, however there are several points about this hotel i 'd like to bring to your attention. THE STENCH! it was somewhat vulgar. we thought at first the previous occupants of our room had a severe dose of the skoots, however the replacement room smelt no better. secondly, THE FOOD! me and my wife, senga (who is an extremely large woman-she doesn't know i'm writing this as you may have guessed) thought the selection of foods was atrocious. senga wouldnt shut up about there not being enough fried food for her to feed her fat face. the food was also very cold. senga also found this very frustrating ([+]view more) as she usually likes it hot and steamy (if you know what I mean). JOBBIES. there were often days I'd hurridly run down to the pool in an attempt to hide the bulge in my trunks (compared to senga, the majority of ladies in Bulgaria are extremely attractive, then again that wouldn't be very hard), without looking into the pool first I'd often dive in to find me being choked! not by the water, but by a six inch POO blocking my airway. anyway, hopefully I haven't put you off going to the victoria hotel, as these problems didnt bother us too much. enjoy. The staff at the hotel were always friendly and helpful, I think my husband was very impressed with their outfits - you'll know what I mean if you visit!!

As previously mentioned by others the food is not particulalry great but soup and bread and desserts are good. It is so cheap to eat out its not really a problem.
Didnt manage to get a sunbed at the hotel as they were always mobbed but it was cheap to go to the beach or the bellvue hotel next door.
Change money next door at the Bellvue hotel their exchange rate is higher than the Victoria palace.
Also do not use the telephones in your room i stupidly called home to ([+]view more) the UK for 20 minutes and had a phone bill of £50.
I would recommend Caribi bar they do the most fantastic cocktail and they are so friendly and its cheap as chips. (toilets are not to good but drink is cheap). Also up the stairs from Caribi there is a fab pizza place to eat.
On a whole I would definately come back to VP and Bulgaria as you cant spend your money. Plus they are going to Euro 2007 so get there before they change as its great.

Yes No Gary | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful We've recently returned from our first holiday in Bulgaria at the Victoria Palace hotel and to be honest, we can't see what the complaints are about.
The staff at the hotel were great. I don't think they were looking for tips, just a bit of respect and a thank you, we tipped em anyway. We heard some complaints that you wouldn't believe. The interior design of the hotel has an African "theme" and one guest demanded to be moved to another hotel as she found wooden carved elephants deeply offensive, a compensation seeker maybe.
Regarding the previous comments about the chaos in the dining area well...it's true but, make it a part ([+]view more) of your holiday. We saw one couple seated at a table with four places and asked if we could take the two spare, by the end of the meal we were like old freinds. It's a place for meeting people. Bear in mind tourism is new to bulgaria and this hotel was catering for over a thousand people and it was its first season and we thought they coped really well. The out side of the hotel was lovley the pools were faboulous to look at and very large, a little bit of heat would not have gone amiss though.
We found talking to the people, that there were complaining they seemed to be profesional at it and would have complained about anything because they do it by nature.
We would certainly go to this hotel again and would recomend it to anybody.
Not far from the hotel is a restraunt called the village, they put on a show while you get fed and all's well. We struck lucky there, the manager was a young guy that was very well learned and , he gave us something of an insight into how life in Bulgaria is at the moment, you'll have to do your own research if you really want to know.

My main complaints are as follows, this hotel may look a 5star hotel from the outside but believe you me its not.
Having spent time in hotels in the Uk I expected a kettle in our room in order to make ourselves a cup of tea & coffee on arrival, there was nothing. So if you decide to go, take a kettle with you. The food is cold and seem to have a rotating menu, the canteen is total disorganisation with everyone trying to get at the food at the same time. There are no trays to carry your food to your table, and also trying to get a table ([+]view more) is almost impossible. Is best to find a table prior to getting your food. Friends of ours ordered chips by the pool side 15 mins later they arrived and stone cold. went and complained and told by a waiteress that its the kitchens fault and told by the waiteress to go to the kitchen, the kitchen staff shouted at my friend for going to the kitchen and complaining about cold food. Spoke to management who did not seem to care, tips is all they care about.
Trying to get a sun lounger is a nightmare, people were seen putting there towels on sun loungers around 5.30 in the morning, its no use complaining.
On a bright note, the ladies who clean the rooms are very helpful and friendly and will help you if they can.
If you suffer from stomach complaints donot eat the food or drink the water, you will be ill, we were.
Im not one for complaining but this is the worst holiday Ive ever had, would not recommend staying at Victoria Palace.

The one thing that lets this hotel down is the food. It does tend to be a little on the warm side however there are 2 micro waves for heating the food up.
Dont even think about getting a sun lounger because they have all been taken by 8 .
The beach is clean and the sea is clear and there are plenty of loungers. During the day you get various people selling Ice creams and fruit and dougnuts . For a snack the baked potatoes are great. All in all I had agreat time.

Yes No Karen Naylor | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful Just returned from Victoria Palace. Some reservations were justified having read previous comments left. Hotel stunning and rooms really large and spacious. Decorations in all areas sumptious and sometimes over the top. Although Balkan Holidays class this as a 5* hotel, it is actually rated 4* in the resort itself.
Sunbed situation pathetic - nowhere near enough for number of guests, although this didn't bother us.
Food was OK, although it was a repetitive menu.
Had 3 massive thunderstorms whilst there. Our room on 6th floor flooded because balcony was angled towards the doors, rather than away from them. Result - carpet was ([+]view more) sodden. We believe this happened in other rooms too, but we were moved the next morning.
Water came through the ceiling in the bathroom when those in the room above used the bath/shower, and although it was fixed every time we reported it, it started again after a couple of days.
Dining room had long queues at busy times because it simply isn't big enough, and extremely hot in there, even though windows and doors were open.
A la carte Restaurant was never open whilst we were there, neither was the pub.
Single room occupied by our 5'8" teenager didn't have balcony, and the windows opened fully - bottom of window frame was just at knee height for him - we considered this to be dangerous.
Local rumours of hotel subsiding was supported by large cracks in external and internal walls, and corridor floors were uneven to say the least.
Below ground level public toilet facilities flooded regularly - water ran down the walls and external fire doors didn't fit properly, hence the flooding when it rained.
Having said all this, the staff were friendly and helpful, and whenever we complained, they acted quickly.
ONE FINAL WORD - DO NOT EXCHANGE MONEY IN THIS HOTEL! Worst exchange rate in the resort - bank rate was 2.91, they gave 2.6. Best exchange rate we got was in hotel Bellevue next door, which gave 2.8, and if you are changing cash, they don't need your passport.

Joost | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful This is not a hotel that I would recommend to anyone. Why? We stayed here for two weeks and not once we were able to find a bed near the swimming pool (too few beds), everytime we had to queue for a seat in the restaurant, we had two weeks of noise from construction work that was being done on the ninth floor (a new room was being built for the owner during peak season!), and we never even got a reaction to our complaints.

Having checked out the hotel last year whilst on holiday we were quite impressed. Now having stayed there we are still impressed. There is room for improvement we agree, but I don't think it is as bad as some make out.Yes the food is poor, we knew that so we took extra money to eat out. The hotel was always being cleaned and our room was lovely. The staff were always very helpful and the first choice rep was fantastic, the bar staff were ok, not sure on their uniforms though (John thought they were great!!) The resort is great having been there for the last 6 years it was ([+]view more) good to see new places open. The only problem with the hotel is that it was too far away from the centre other than that it was a great holiday and we can't wait to go back to Sunny Beach next summer. Bulgarian people are lovely, but poorly represented in the attitude of managment here! The female manager was hostile and threatening when we attemted to complain. One lady in the room beside us was found unconscious when she drank cleaning fluid from a bottle normally used for water! You will find yourself queing for a table at mealtimes. You will also find the table cloths dirty and knives and forks thrown on! Male staff in the restaurant ([+]view more) were not always presented in the most hygenic manner and we were all very concerned when we saw a chambermaid who had been cleaning our toilet less than 10 minutes before, rinsing coffee cups in the kitchen without gloves. The bed sheets do not fit the beds and as there were plenty of unsavoury characters availing of the local vice trade, it does not make one sleep easily as the sheet inevitably comes off the mattress. This hotel should really not be reccomended by travel agencies until they improve their general standards on all levels except decor! Please if u go , change your money at the "Crown Exchanges" dotted along the promenade, they are the only ones who will not 'do' you! Your hotel will also give you a bad rate of exchange. 'Dobre Dan' is 'good day', 'Mola' is 'please' and 'Merci' is 'thankyou' using these prases will enhance your interactions and fun.. Bulgaria is a beautiful country with fabulous people... but be more safe than sorry and stay at a different hotel.!! !!

Phil Dalton | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Just back from 2 weeks in the VP.
What a Kip, The rooms to start with are far to big. Every time you get out of bed somebody makes it. The towels you leave on the floor go missing every day and new ones are left folded on your bed. They feed you with all sorts of food and then you get into the lift and It insults you, saying your over weight. The barstaff are over dressed. The local bus drivers think your millionaires for staying there. However I was really happy that the management got some sense and put the price of a beer up from 3 to 4 lev in our second week. It made us stay out all night drinking beer for 1 lev in SHARKEYS BAR.
I ([+]view more) wont be going back to the Victoria Palace again as It gave me false illusions of grandure. At least not until next year.

Chris | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Got back from 2 weeks staying at the Victoria Palace and just thought I'd sum up the good and bad points (in our opinion!) of the hotel: Good points: 1. Rooms - these are excellent. Very large, spacious and extremely clean (as is the rest of the hotel and indeed Sunny Beach). 2. Pool - large and very clean. 3. Appearance of the hotel is very grand, sort of "Vegas" style. 4. Maids / Staff - keep the whole hotel spotlessly clean. Bad points: 1. Food - breakfast is fine even if it's a bit busy, but the evening meal, what can I say! - without doubt the worst excuse for food I have ever experienced. I'm sorry but I can't see how some people ([+]view more) can say it's good. It was nearly always cold (How can the waiter bring a fresh supply of a certain food and it still be cold by the time you get it back to your table??!). 2. Sun beds - for a hotel that can have 1,200 guests to only have about 250 sun beds is poor in my opinion. Although if you go down to the pool around 7.45 can get one - but I didn't really want to be doing that each day! 3. I think that the hotel is a bit too big for it's staff / facilities to handle everything. Overall though we had an excellent holiday, Sunny Beach is great: very clean and lots to do and although the food in the hotel was unacceptable, the choice of restaurants and the quality and price of their food made sure that this didn't spoil our holiday. We would go back but if we did we would definitely stay at the Helena Sands / Park resort which is a couple of hotels up from the VP. It seemed very nice and more "tranquil" than the VP. Although we did not expect five star we were still dissapointed with what we got. Good points were, the look of the hotel it is stunning, the room, comfortable and very spacious, the maids, waiters etc very friendly and helpful same could not be said for management. Poor points. Not nearly enough sunbeds at poolside for size of hotel. Dining room badly organised and food although at best edible lacked variation and taste. You can wear a football top to dine in the evening in this five star hotel. After first week we ate out every evening. Worst of all money went missing from ([+]view more) our locked safety deposit box. Manager not interested, unsympathetic and took no action or responsibility. We were told to phone police ourselves and if we wanted to tell everyone in the hotel what had happened they would give us a microphone. They said we were the only people this had happened to, but we know of two other incidents that had happened while we were there.
Bulgaria itself is great. It is clean, we felt really safe when not in our hotel, the people are friendly and there are many good cheap restaurants and bars to eat in.
Go to nessebar, khans tent and djanny`s bistro.
Dont go to the victoria palace until it is managed properly.

The hotel is positioned at the end of the resort right on the beach - it is lovely. It is known to be the best in the resort.

As someone stated earlier on the comments page, some people will find things to moan about and are not happy unless they are moaning. Gemma | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful We've just come back from a week in Victoria Palace and we thought it was great. We arrived when it was dark and i have to say i was impressed by the chandalier although the Leopard print dining chairs were a bit too much. The seating area in the reception and drinks lounge were very nice. The rooms are very spacious with extra seating and again a bit too much Leopard print (the whole carpet) other than the aforementioned carpet, the rooms were nicely decorated. We never ate at the restaurant at peak times so were always able to find a seat, not spoilt for choice with the food but what there was of it was nice. There was either no sign ([+]view more) in the swimming pool or my friend didn't see it but there are steps as you go down and she broke 3 toes, she just numbed the pain with alcohol because it's cheap enough! The staff were mostly friendly and spoke quite good english. I would definately recommend Sunny Beach to anyone but i would go late June or July/August because the weather was slightly tempremental at the begining of June. No offence to Victoria Palace but when i go next time i would stay in the centre of Sunny Beach because i'm 22 i want to be near the action and walking 20 minutes in stilettos to the town centre isn't much fun because when you get there you've drank that much alcohol to numb the pain that you may as well turn around and go back to the hotel cos you're too drunk!! We had a fun time in some of the local bars just down from the hotel. Never mind what anyone else has said about this hotel, you don't get called Posh Little Rich Girls for staying anywhere else!! The food is stone cold and tasteless, but they do supply a microwave (how very kind of them) to heat up your food. She refused to let me call the rep from reception and said i should use the phone in my room (meaning i have to pay for it) but of course my phone had not worked from day one and i was promised it would be fixed on day two (what a joke!).
The list goes on and on i would rather not bore you with it so i feel a few bullet points should get to the point of exactly where you stand when you arrive.
* heavy service charge with waiters/s
*Bridge over pool deadly when wet
*Lifts always full of rude staff
* No sunbeds or half hourly check up
* Safety deposit boxes not fixed to the wall
*Spa very expensive everything is 40 lev
*no fire procedures (were supposedly on order)
* full of germans
* rep will listen if they time but will not follow any problems up
*Receptionists try and charge you twice for phonebills of safety deposit boxes
Plus many more

Apart from all that the jeep safari is a fantastic day out, it is a long day but well worth the money.

Go and enjoy yourselves and don't worry about some of the comments on this site. The hotel was we thought was good although some of the facilities advertised hairdressers etc are not available although a shop selling accessories and jewellery etc opened whilst we were there as did an internet cafe. The reception area is fantastic with lots of seating and the chandelier is something else. If all the furnishings are not to your taste does it really matter? The bar areas are great with lots ([+]view more) of seating and friendly attentive staff. the hotel rooms are huge with a more than adequate bathrooms and we didn't have any leaks, there was hot water whenever you wanted it and the loo flushed perfectly just be careful stepping out of the bath as there's quite a high step out of them. If your room is at the back of the hotel they're in the process of finishing the hotel opposite but don't worry as it's not too noisy and another month should probably see it finished - we had great fun sitting on the balcony at the end of the day watching the progress made. Now to the restaurant and I agree it still needs some tweaking particularly the seating arrangements but if the dining room was full we headed out to the patio area to eat. Bulgarian food is probably not to everyone's taste but we enjoyed it. The food is more than adequate and on some evenings was even good. As everyone says it's cheap to eat out so try the Condor near the market area a meal here for two with drinks (beer and a glass of wine and two coffees) costs less than £3 for two. There's lots to see and do in Sunny Beach try the boat trip across to Nessebur and with new attractions springing up daily outside the hotel, drinks at 90p for a litre of beer and cocktails at £2.50 to designer copies of handbags, trainers and shoes, CD's and DVD's and lots more on sale everywhere, a huge number of bars and cafes along the promenade area into the centre we found everything we were looking for in an excellent holiday - hope you do too. The bedrooms are superb - very large with glorious sea views if you are on the right side of the hotel but the bathrooms aren't. As we were very near to end of season the hotel was nowhere near full so there were no problems with sunbeds, queues at reception etc. The rooms were cleaned and towels changed every day. As for the hotel, very impressive to look at with a stunning reception area. The room was OK, slight leak in the bathroom and the general construction was slightly on the shoddy side but on the whole not too bad. Pool was gorgeous but absolutely freezing and was not used apart from a few kids and a couple of hardy Germans.
Luckily for me I read all the other comments ([+]view more) before I went so was prepared for the worst with the food and expected to eat out every night. We tried the hotel restaurant on the first night and have to say the food was pretty grim especially for my wife who is vegetarian. We managed a bowl of watery soup each then headed into Sunny Beach to a proper restaurant. Generally the food in all the restaurants we tried was excellent and extremely cheap. The worst meal we had was actually at the "Folk Night" excursion organised by Balkan Holidays. Take my advice and do NOT waste your money on this. You get picked up by coach and taken to a restaurant about five minutes walk from the hotel. The food was not too bad but had to specifically ask for a non-meat dish as vegetarians were not even considered. The rep at the welcome meeting promised drinks all night included in the price. He obviously doesn't know Brits very well as we got 2 jugs of wine between our table and were expected to pay for any on top of this. After kicking up a bit of a stink we did manage to scrounge another jug of wine for our table to keep us quiet. The annoying thing was the restaurant was open to the general public anyway, who were not stuck with a set menu and who no doubt had a much better meal and enjoyed the same entertainment for a fraction of what we paid.
To sum up, if you stay here and expect to eat in the hotel every night you are in for a BIG disappointment. Take a few extra quid and make the most of the restaurants in the resort. I would go back to Sunny Beach but after hearing comments from fellow Brits would stay at either the Globus or the Victoria hotel. Both lovely looking hotels and not stuck right out on the edge of the resort.

Room adequate but no drawer space was a problem.
The hotel looks fabulous but the standard of finish is poor and there were faults with leaks, lifts and doors whilst we were there.
Reception area was very grand, it is a pity that the standard of service was not the same. Never heard so many people complaining about the poor service at the hotel reception. This may have been due to the systems they operated especially the registration of passports which meant long queues every day of people trying to retrieve there passports.
Food and standard of service and facilities ([+]view more) in the dining room very poor for a hotel of this size. Tables available for probably 50% of guests and a struggle to get any food which was luke warm at best. Only three domestic toasters in the service area. The situation was so poor that in common with many others we decided to eat out. Fortunately it was cheap to do so.
Broken tiles in swimming pool which looked dangerous to me. Not that it made much difference, the pools were so cold that in a week i saw only one person use them.
Previous comments re poolside beds sum it up. Only the very early birds had a chance.
Facilities in hotel were very poor, apart from a pianist there was no entertainment and no specialist facilities such as fitness or childrens clubs were available and seating though impressive was limited.
The hotel would appear to have a 5* appearance with 1* service and facilities.
The hotel can only get better otherwise it will not survive. It has started at the bottom so the only way is up.

Needless to say we were informed that we had to move to the Victoria Palace and transport was arranged for us at 13.30, we had to vacate our room at the Globus at 12.00 on arrival at the Palace we were informed that our room was not yet ready, it took a further 3 hours before we were allowed into ([+]view more) our room, the reason given was that the previous guests had taken the key with them.
The only key available was the maids which we had to use and which we had to return in order to get the room cleaned.
Needless to say this resulted in several scouting missions of the hotel to find the maid to allow us access to OUR room.
The room was very spacious, clean and we had clean towels every day, our main problem roomwise was a water leak from the room above our bathroom with the result when washing your hands you also washed your hair, OK if your in a rush.
The dining area was far too small for the size of the hotel, if you were lucky enough to find a table which you had to clear yourself, then you would fetch your own cutlery, and the shortage of spoons and saucers meant these were in great demand among guests.
Presentation of food was beyond belief ( it really has to be seen to be believed).
The quality of the food was very poor (mashed potatoes presented in liquid form), with very little selection.
Staff were far from helpfull.
And all this from a supposedly 5 STAR HOTEL.
Thanks to the friends we met (FELLOW SUFFERERS) who saved our holiday from a complete disaster.
The 9 days we spent at the Victoria Palace were 9 days too many.
Needless to say we will NOT be visiting the Victoria Palace again.

Michael | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Had a one week stay at the Victoria Palace and must say that we had a great time, baring in mind the hotel had only been open for 5 weeks.  Very comfortable hotel for a relaxing beach holiday. Some teething problems but these will be sorted out ready for next year.  Staff always friendly and willing to help with any problems.  Only negative comment would be the breakfast arrangements where things are disorganised, however on the opposite side of the hotel is a duplicate resturant which is still to fitted out. We would definately return next year. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Rina | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Just returned from a 4 night stay in te hotel.

It is still not finished, though it looks like somebody forgot the plannig phase: unresonable proportion of elevators / rooms, staircase not finished, with unequal hight of stairs, many broken parts in the bathroom, no air condition in public areas like Lobby and Dining room, and many other faults.

Towels is a main issue - they just don't exist. After some shouting you sometime get some wet towels... (Tippng the maid can help) . Guests are probably expected to wash only once a week. Of course no towels for the pools. Shampoo and soap are given only once in a 4 night stay. ([+]view more) More is supposed to be purchaced (in a 5 * hotel!!!)

Rooms were not cleaned during our stay.

BUT WORST OF ALL IS THE SERVICE: It seems like the staff don't really care. They are indifferent to problems of their guests (and there is plenty, all the time!)

Food was boring and not tasty. as a vegetarian - there was really not much if you don't like steames-to-death vegetables with no taste. Baklava was good! Dinner is supposed to served untill 20:00 but is you came on 19:30 - you can feed yourself with leftovers.

A manager is never to be found, and the manager of guest relations doesn't want to listen to feedback.
None of the employees look proffessional.

Most 3-4 * hotels we stayed in gave much better service!

penny, bob n james | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful just returned from 2 weeks, we must have been lucky staying on first floor, room was cleaned daily, even after 4pm, clean towels and bedding always provided.  have to say food wasn't very good, and we didn't bother with breakfast at all, but restaurants are cheap so we ate out mostly.  for the price we paid and we had a 14 year old with us, i thought the hotel was stunning visually, the staff were always helpful, didnt bother with the pool, as beach was on doorstep, it was a pleasant stroll to centre with plenty of bars and shops.  however, dont buy any dvd's, ours doesn't work!.  by the way if you ([+]view more) go over your limit on fags etc, customs at bourgas will get you, and for a small fee (a £25 bribe) he will let you through.   we wouldn't have any problem going back next year to same hotel (though hopefully the germans will find somewhere else) Was this review helpful to you? Yes No yitka | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Those were the nights I stayed in Victoria Palace and have to agree with the previous comment. Seems like during our stay we were not so unlucky though. I heard some drilling noises only one morning on the 8th floor above us, it was 10 o'clock but it's too early for me when on vacation.

I cannot comment on the pool side because there was no place left for us (it's for free) so we had to pay for chairs on the beach (1 chair 5 lewa, 1 sunshade 5 lewa).

What I really didn't like were elevators in the hotel. Only two main elevators for 8 floors and very very slow (not air conditioned).

Nice things about being in ([+]view more) a new hotel are firm new big mattrasses and brand new pillows (nobody sweated his head on it before me :-))

Anyway, one day a chambermaid forgot to give us clean towels and toilet paper but she managed to take our dirty ones away. This can happened, no big deal but another day nobody even bothered to come to our room despite the note on the door handle asking for cleaning the room up.

If you expect 5 star hotel with all the service, go somewhere else. I couldn't use the fitness room because there was none, we couldn't order a room service and minibar was empty. Also an Italian bar served as a self-service lounge instead.

If you are vegetarian and want some fruits for breakfast, get up early, after 8 o'clock you'll find only old oranges and apples in the basket.

One more detail. We were told by our agent we were going to 5 star Victoria hotel.  (not Victoria Palace) So I checked Victoria on the internet before our flight and expected something else. When we got on the bus arranged in front of the airport by Victoria Group I mentioned to a guide we might be on the wrong bus but he assured me  that Victoria is Victoria Palace.
Don't get tricked! Victoria hotel is much closer to the center, less pompous than Victoria Place and I believe with all the expected services.

Steve | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful We have just got back from the Victoria Palace which is not yet finished, the banging starts in the morning and continues to the early evening. Work around the pool continues whilst the children try to get in and out. Our room had two leaks one from the bath the other from the toilet, which seeped into the carpets, delightful. If you enjoy getting up at 5pm to beat the other residents in securing a sun lounger then this is the hotel for you. Even though a sign states no reserving sun beds no one enforces the rule. It is probably best to be up early afterall as their are not enough tables in the restaurant for the number of guests and if ([+]view more) you are not their first you may as well forget it.  After you have sampled the food you probably will not want to visit the restaurant again anyway, the latest addition during our stay was a microwave for the guests, presumably to reheat the food. On the positive side the foyer is magnificent, however I don't spend my holiday in the foyer, Im sure the hotel will be great in a years time but at the moment it does not come close to other hotels in Bulgaria. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No John Buckle | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Returned today from a weeks holiday in this hotel: outside it looks wonderful - certainly distinct in the resort. The Reception area keeps up the appearance. However this is where it ends: Cold food both at breakfast and dinner (we only ate dinner a couple of times - -it was bad news!); getting a table to eat at was almost impossible (for breakfast we found the best time was 7am - no chance of a lay in there!).
As a family we had 2 rooms - ours, a double was OK but there was no balcony furniture, and it looked very sparsely furnished.  The other was a single room which was very large but: the curtains didn't meet leaving ([+]view more) gaps of up to 2 feet between them and the balcony lights were on all night - couldn't switch them off from the room; there was a leak from the room above into the bathroom; the bathroom telephone was positioned so close to the shower that when the shower was used the phone was soaked; from the second day the telephone didn't work. The lighting in both bathrooms was very dim - shaving was done mainly by guesswork! Very worrying - there were no fire hoses in the cabinets in the corridors on the floor we were on and there was no evacutation guide in either room (this is normally found on the back of the main door!). Trying to get a sunbed at the poolside was difficult but we managed to get three beds at about 9am at least once! The charges for sun-beds on the beach was 5 Leva each, plus 5 Leva for an umbrella - and because of the sea breeze it was noticably cooler than trying to lay by the pool.
For an hotel rated as 4 star, it certainly didn't live up to it's rating. The number of complaints we heard during our stay would confirm that - even the rep from our holiday company conceded there wre more complaints from this particular hotel than any other on Sunny Beach.
The construction of the hotel looked a little shoddy in places: when we left we noticed that there were broken tiles in the swimming pool, tiles were missing from the stairs, patches were damp had damaged the paintwork were evident all over the hotel - look up at the ceiling in the reception/lobby when you enter the hotel for a prime example.
By the way, it helps if you speak German in the resort!
Perhaps these are all problems associated with a newly re-opened hotel, and to be honest they didn't completely ruin our holiday. But looking at the state of the hotel, I think it opened far too early - there is still too much work to be done both to the fabric of the hotel and staff training.  There is something there which could be very special - unfortunately it wasn't about when we were there. So, would I go back? To the Victoria Palace - not to stay there. To Sunny Beach - perhaps, on a day visit from another resort...

Davie & Annmarie | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Have just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel,16/7/03. The hotel is very impressive to look at most stunning hotel in sunny beach.. BUT not very impressive to stay at. The food would be at best described as very poor with constant complaints from other guests falling on deaf ears. service is also poor towels were changed once per week and the bed linnen was not changed during our stay, despite us  constantly asking for this to be addressed, but once again this fell on deaf ears. We were informed that the hotel is attempting to change certain things so you may have better luck in the future than us. Would suggest you stayed ([+]view more) somewhere else in sunny beach until things improve, this may take some time as construction work was still being carried out when we were there.  Some nice hotels to be found with superior standard and better value for money I suggest you try them, we will next time. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No clivew | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful i stayed at the Victoria palace from 4/8/03-18/8/03.
unfortunately the hotel is STILL under construction. the week previous to my arrival the hotel had flooded out the 7th and 8th floors due to the roof not being on the hotel. thus the folloeing weeks were loud banging and drilling/cutting to get the roof on. ONE DAY A MAN WITH A JACKHAMMER CAME TO OUR ROOM AT 8AM TO DESTROY OUR BALCONY AND FIT A DRAIN. they also ripped up the hotel poolside to fit drains and are still currently building a pool bar. this does mean around twelve workmen sharing the pool area using circular saws, chainsaws, cement etc.
The food is not too pleasant, ([+]view more) a buffet style arrangemment which i can assure you made many people complain.
the hotel's operational procedures are non existent as is the fire escapes which were incomplete and full off rubble when I was there.
Someone with a key broke into my room and stole money and a digital camera
On discussion withthe Balkan holidays rep he told me that he agreed the hotel was not complete although the owners had instructed him t tell us building work would not stop.
the hotel is situated at he very end of sunny beach and it is a good couple of kilometers to the resort centre although there are restaraunts and bars close by.
However the landacaping is still to be complete and all sides apart from the beach side have views of rubble and brown dried mud. thus if you have not a sea view you will have no view.
The hotel is beautifully furnished with fake Versace sofa's and looks wonderful from the outside however do not judge a book by it's cover.
The air conditioning did not work which was extremely frustrating, the staff have not a clue how to provide services. one exampleof this is we went to change money one evening in the hotel at 10pm and despite a sign stating it is open till 10.30 I was informed by the staff member that she had worked fifteen hours and was too tired to do it. after a small discussion she did dit but this is my point about staff not having a clue.
on a final note the rooms are actually quite spacious although cable TV to British people does mean discovery and bbc news 24, thats it.
the final thing I have to say is that the hotel is a tourist attraction, from early morning to late at night you will have people, mostly Bulagarians with their families using the pool and having thier pictures taken, kidding on they are staying there. you will not get a sunbed unless you are up before 6.30am.
there is no waiter service to the poll or ant music or entertainment.
i have been to Bulgaria five times and it is normally a joy and the people remain friendly however if i wss booking a holiday to Sunny beach i would miss out the Victoria Palace as it needs a couple of years to get it's act together.

Trish | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful The surroundings are 4 maybe 5 star once finished but they have not yet got the star rated service to match.
Breakfast and dinner are both like feeding time at the zoo with no tables cleared. Drinks are really expensive and the sunbeds are impossible to get unless you reserve them at 5.30am.

pete | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Just returned after having a marvelous time, hotel lovely, food good, great range of cocktails.  If you want a sun bed by the pool you need to be up by 6.30 as otherwise they have all gone.  Sunbeds are available on the beach across the road but will cost you £2.50 a day, umbrella a further £2.50.  Rooms are spacious and are well furnished.  There is a shop in the next door hotel which stock everything you will need.  Found a good wine about £1.00 a bottle called Eselsmilch which the Bulgarians pronouce as donkeys milk. Lorraine Woodley | 1 out of 1 found this review helpful We were due to stay at the Victoria Palace for the first two weeks of July 2003 but were changed to the Globus as it was not finished. We took a walk to see what we were missing and it was fantastic. Definately the best hotel in the resort. We asked to see one of the rooms and they were very nice, with bath plus shower, hairdryer, minibar. The pool was really nice, with waterfalls, jacuzzi and swim up bar.The reception was brilliant. One of the floors in the reception had a glass floor with shells, and sand and bamboo beneath with big soft sofas on it. There was a big double staircase sweeping up either side with statues of elephants andthe biggest chandelier you have every seen. Was this review helpful to you?
