Have just spent a week there and can say it comes throughly recommended. The rooms are excellent, large and clean all come with a/c, tv and balcony. Bathrooms are also great with hairdryer and clean towels daily. This hotel has recently been re-furbished so pics above are a little dated and bear little resemblence. Golden sands is a short walk and is lively with plenty of bars, restraunts and night life. It's also a shoppers paradise with roadside stalls selling everything from conterfiet oakley sunglasses to watchs, shoes, cloths...so dont pack too much!!. There is plenty of trips although book early as there is limited availability. First choice ([+]view more) overcharge considerably for there trips so book elsewhere. We really enjoyed the holiday and the hotel is truelly 4 star with all mod-cons. Would recommend the Kristal and Golden Sands to anyone.

I stayed with a friend and her son from 11th - 18th July 2005. I asked the tour operator if there was any chance of having a single room, as the hotel says it is ideal for singles, couples and families, but was told there are no single rooms. Be very aware that if you are told a twin bedded room will ccommodate a 3rd adult because there is a double sofa bed, that this is not the case. The double sofa bed is in fact an armchair, no more than 2'6" wide. My friend's son is 21 and 6'3" tall. We complained to the Rep. and on the 2nd day, were supplied with a mattress on the floor plus bedding. This made the room less spacious as it then contained a 3rd ([+]view more) mattress and an armchair. In the end I moved into the room next door, which I had to negotiate myself with the hotel. It was an identical room and as I was on my own, added quite a bit to the holiday. It was about £50 per night. That said, the hotel is fairly large, clean and the food, buffet style, caters for all tastes. The staff were friendly and the towels changed daily. The maids did some origami style work on them and we would come back to find them sitting like a pair of swans on the bed. Very sweet. Considering it was not the end of term, there were loads of children. We were on the 1st floor, our rooms leading off the Reception area. The children regularly chased up and down the corridors at 2, 3am. while their parents drank, ridiculously cheaply, in the bar. There are activities: a poolside quiz, water polo, kids' disco, bingo, that sort of thing. The weather was changeable with 2 terrific thunderstorms. I would recommend a full body massage at the hotel. 50 ins. of sheer indulgence, costing just under £20. Leather and jewellery are also definite bargains. My own feeling is that I'd like to re-visit Varna but wouldn't opt to stay at the Hotel Kirstal again. This is not because it's a bad hotel - it isn't. If you've got kids and want a good value holiday I would say go. If you're looking for a bit of peace and quiet, at least for some of the time, then don't.

My wife and I and our two sons stayed at the Hotel Kristal from June 9 - 23 this year (2005). The hotel was very clean and looked very nice. Our room was a very good nice with a kingsize bed and two armchair beds for our sons. There is also a TV and DVD player - handy!! The only downside of the room was the shower. The floor flooded every time we all took a shower. The food in the hotel is varied and very good. The pool is good but not really child friendly - too many steps etc. And their 'entertainment' was very basic - unless you like bingo every night. The resort was very nice, clean and the people were very friendly. The beach is close and very ([+]view more) clean. Everything very cheap - a hotel, resort and holiday I would definitely recommend!!!

My Wife and i stayed at the Ktistal June 2004 .The Hotel has a Brand new section and an old Wing .The rooms in the old wing a very basic. We booked with Fist Choice Holidays and they only put guests in the new part. It is a very modern hotel with a great outdoor pool complex and a small indoor Pool and Wellness Center. The food is basic .....But OK....if its not your "cup of Tea" nip out and eat its cheap enough. My wife and i enjoyed the food all through some did not.The Pool bar is fine for a lunch time snack, to sit by the pool its there is a charge of around £2 per day, this is customary. The staff are very nice and helpfull,....its about ([+]view more) a 10 minute stroll downhill to the beach ..its nit to steep. All in All i loved the Kristal Hotel. But stay in the NEW part ........We are booked again this June......enjoy your stay .....Mark

my husband and i have just spent a week in hotel kristal gardens golden sands on the 1st july 2004. my advice to people is get this holiday now for next year as this hotel will be a 4*plus it has recently been refurbished and is immaculately clean and furnished to a high standard, Although the food in the hotel does not cater for the british as yet there are plenty of resteraunts on the door step which are very nice and very cheap.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in hotel kristal for two weeks, yes the rooms were very basic but they were clean, so we were happy. We found the staff very heelpful and friendly. On our last night there we dropped in a film to be devolped but when we went to pick it up they were closed, we were gutted because we were leaving that night at 2:00 am and we had to leave ourphotos behind, so I asked a guy working in the hotel if he would pick them up for me and send them over to Ireland, I knew it would be a longshot but the other day my photos came in the post so I am so grateful to him, I wanted to e-mail the hotel but i can't find a website, So thank you ([+]view more) hotel kristal for my photos :)

where do i start me and partner went for a 2 week stay here with a four year old child, after being taken to our room we couldn't believe it we expected basic but this was unimaginable 2 single beds pushed together with a wooden beam down the middle which you banged head, knee and foot everytime you moved. my sons bed was in the corner which was a sunlounger with a thin matress which kept collapsing on him, behind his head was a lose and faulty electric socket the glass lamp next to his bed was smashed with shards of glass everywhere which i stood on and cut my foot, everytime you showered the bathroom was a death trap especially to a child he fell ([+]view more) and bumped his head so did my partner, outside on the balcony it was looked like a radiator with a big gap above big enough for a child to fit through 4 floors high hence my son was not aloud out there, the view we had was trees, trees and trees. it was a nightmare that was just the room, we was told there was a pool and also it was advertised in the book i asked and was told "we was going to build one" so we could use the one over the road which was murkey and dirty my son had the runs after he been in there, so the pool was out. At night all you could here was noise we had no sleep there was no fan either in your room and no to hire either, i heard of several complaints to be moved, there was prostitution in the bar, great for a 4 year old any parent would agree!!!!!!!! we walked nearby and 4 drunken germans thought it would be funny to grab my pushchair with my sleeping son in it and run up the street ( every mothers nightmare) glass thrown on our balconys, nothing for children and night more like a glorified blackpool even though that would be an insult to blackpool, swindled every where you go, we arrived home yesterday couldn't stand anymore managed a week mean't to be there for two, mean't to go to manchester airport, told at airport they had had a emergancy and had to go to birmingham, my sons pushchairs still there didn't come through, then had 2 hour drive to leeds/bradford airport from birmingham where we was left to find our way home which cost another £40 in taxi fare, all i can say especially to parents is don't do it its the things nightmares are made of a complete holiday from hell.
