I only have one gripe about the dana palace is the doctor who said was trained but i'm not too sure now. After being charged 60 quid for an ear infection and still being in pain two weeks later i have cause to disregard his judgment. if your ill go to a hospital not to the local quack. apart from that we had a fantastic time and if you want tatoos doing go and see pepe and emile at the mambo supermarket they are the cleanest and most chilled out lads we met there.

My fav bar was sirena cocktail bar the barmen were really nice. we made good friends with one of them he was called georgi. our fav place to eat was leonardos and it is right next door to sirena so not that far to get something to eat. overall bulgaria is a fantasic place to go and i woulg reccomend it for all ages. Was this review helpful to you? The pool itself is not marked at deeper levels and the entrance to the kiddies pool is very slippy and we saw lots of falls whilst around the pool. We also had money taken from our room and the manager didn't seem too bothered! Took three days to get to speak to his deputy. Food is very continental and they don't seem to cater for the English very well. Try getting an English breakfast!!!!!!
We found there were very little staff who understood English so must have had a big turn over in staff to new employee's. Surrounding area was not all that clean although not too bad.Was this review helpful to you? YesNoGolden sandsJason and Paula | 1 out of 1 found this review helpfulMy partner and I have just returned from 2 weeks at the Dana Palace Hotel and we think its a great place. Our room was of a good size with contemporary stylings. The balcony was a nice size and very pleasant to sit overlooking the pool, with a drink and a book. It was cleaned every day but the towels only changed 2-3 times in 2 weeks. The pool area is a great suntrap, and with 2 bars and attentive waiting staff it's certainly not underused. My only complaint of this area would be the music policy; maybe 30 different songs, played over and over for two weeks is not my idea of fun ( I hate that bloody frog)! Occasionally, there would be different music playing from 2 bars and if you were sat in the middle of them it could easily drive you ([+]view more) to insanity (imagine the crazy frog in one ear and Phil Collins in the other, oh the agony).
The bar area is okay but nothing special, staff were lovely, though. The restaurant was pretty good but nothing special, although the staff were usually smiling and attentive and the area kept clean and tidy. We thought an outdoor barbeque in the garden/dining area (not uncommon in Bulgaria) would draw people from the outside and make residents around the pool very hungry and more tempted to eat at the hotel. Again, the only problem I had with this area was the house band. They played very loudly, very badly, very often. In fact, I believe they put people off from eating and drinking at the hotel. Either get a decent band (there's no shortage of them in Golden Sands) or employ a DJ that can play for a wide range of people. In fact, a peruvian panpipe quartet playing Guns and Roses would have been preferable to the tone deaf duo playing Una Paloma Blanca, especially as there was no escape from it, even with closed, double glazed sliding doors.
Overall, I would say this a good 3 star hotel with shiny, happy staff, in a nice quiet location. Unfortunately, if you find walking up a hills a difficulty I would say avoid this place as its at the top of one, maybe 10-15 minutes away from the front. But there's always taxis. Was this review helpful to you? The hotel is up on a hill not good if you can not walk far. there was no entertainment and not much to do if you want entertiament you need to go into the resort But be ware at about 8.00 every nite the main street is home to about 40+ street girls selling them selves this was very off putting considering it is suppose to be a family resort it was tolerated by the locals but not good for the people on holiday I do not think I will be going there again. Was this review helpful to you? YesNoGolden sandsAndrea Brown | 1 out of 1 found this review helpfulMum and Dad stayed here in September 2004 after finally arriving at the hotel at 1.30 in the morning they checked in. Within the first 5 minutes of being in the hotel they were mugged by a person the locals describe as a "gypsey woman". So much for the 24 hour security. Not only did she take all their holiday spends she badly injured mum and dads friend who had to have hospital treatment and have her leg in a brace for the whole of the holiday. Not a nice place to visit the markets were rife with muggers and thieves. Please be aware if you are thinking of staying here. My mum and dad are in there 60s and dont need this when they go away. Was this review helpful to you? The staff spoke very good english and could not fault the service. Even through this was suspposed to be a three star+ I actually think it should be a five as the location is perferct not to near the centre but can be reached within 5 mins walking distance. Oggy and Danni were really friendly and nice people they actually taught me how to speak a little Bulgarian so all I can say is blagodarya vi mnogo (thankyou very much) see you in next year. Was this review helpful to you? It was the best holiday I (and the other girls) ever have had... The hotel is really great. On the one hand it's perfect for families, on the other hand also for party-people. The atmosphere is good for relaxing and you can reach the discos, bars, restaurants and clubs fastly... All people from the hotel are very nice and I enjoied talking to them!!! The only thing that have been bad is.......................
that we had to leave after such a short time! I was sad when we arrived in Germany... This hotel is the first one I could imagine to stay forever. Hope to come back one day. YesNoGolden sandsVictoria | 1 out of 1 found this review helpfulDana Palace (I stayed there last week of August, 2003) is a really nice place - new, clean and a very good located - short way to everything ? sea, bus stop, bank. I recommend it for people who prefer to sleep at nights or rest with small children, as night music from the center alley, which is also close, cannot reach this place. Staff is quite professional, friendly and nice like all Bulgarians in general. Was this review helpful to you? Dani and Niki at the bar were really pleasant and certainly very helpful. Resort was bigger than we expected and weather was great - would definately recommend Dana Palace as it was a little back from the main centre but short a short walk away from all the biz.Was this review helpful to you?
