Americans in Europe want inclusive product

US Tour Operators Association president Bob Whitley has suggested that escorted tours and river cruises could be popular with cost-aware Americans planning to visit Europe in 2008. Whitley explained: ‘As people become more value-driven, 2008 may well be the year of the escorted tour and the all-inclusive vacation package’.He suggested that river cruising would have a strong year because meals and trips are included in the price. Its annual ‘informal’ survey of members also found that, despite the strength of the euro against the dollar, Italy remains the number one international destination for Americans. England came ‘a distant second.’Tours and packages to Bulgaria and the Czech Republic are seeing the strongest growth, with Croatia the strongest growing destination for independent travellers.Egypt currently represents the best value for money for US travellers, with a three-way tie for second place between Turkey, China and domestic trips.
