Comments for Magnolia Hotel Albena
Albenasusan faith | 3 out of 3 found this review helpfulWe had originally booked for the Hotel Panorama but were told that it had closed for refurbishment and that we were going to the Vita Park, but on arrival were told that we were going to be staying at the Magnolia. As hotels go, it was in a nice location and the rooms were very comfortable and clean, the linen and towels changed on a regular basis. The one down side was the food which was absolutely terrible, I lost 6lbs in the week and I only weigh 8 stones usually! The other down side as far as we were concerned, was the cheap horrible booze offered with the all inclusive deal. It was enough to put you off booze for life. We ate ([+]view more) out most nights as a result and we enjoyed Albena and Bulgaria. We might go back one day but not to that hotel although I think that the food in Bulgaria is not that great anywhere you go. Was this review helpful to you? The staff were superb, very friendly, attentive, and helpful! the food was very nice, always cooked properly, with a vast range of meals available, changing daily. The hotel was very very clean, and only 5-10min stroll to the beach, or a free bus was available! The pool was gorgous, and there was entertainment all day and night with the Animation team - they made my holiday!!
I am so glad I went to this resort, and will certainly be visiting here again as soon as possible! I would recomment this to everyone, families, elderly, couples, singles - brilliant! Was this review helpful to you? The food was very nice, there was a good variety, bulgarian food but also sausage, chips etc for the kids. All staff were very friendly and helpful-going out of their way to make your stay as nice as possible. It was always very clean and there were plenty of snacks so you could eat throughout the day. There were 3 swimming pools ranging in size, with showers and slides. Great bulgarian entertainment on site or within a very short walk-3 mins for free. The rep knew all about the excursions and the resort, and was very helpful. The beach was lovely-could ([+]view more) walk down 170 (we counted!) steps, but they are not steep and we didnt have a problem with two young children. But there is a mini train or free shuttle bus. Bulgarian people were lovely and the bazaar (market) is near the beach and there you can pick up everything at great prices. Weather was wonderful and overall we had a brilliant holiday. Was this review helpful to you? YesNoAlbenasue and jim | 2 out of 2 found this review helpfulFirst of all i would like to say WHAT A WONDERFUL HOTEL! We had a lovely time at the hotel, the staff couldnt do enough for us. As i am disabled and in a wheelchair i found the hotel easy to get around, as they made ramps where there were steps, the only problem we had was to get to the pool, my partner asked for a peice of hard board to get me up the steps, instead of the hotel giving him a peice of hardboard, they made me a ramp, which we named "sues ramp". You wouldnt get that in the uk!!The food was very nice and there was plenty of choice, in fact one night we counted how many meals there were and there were 13 different meals ([+]view more) to choose from. The rooms were kept very clean, and everywhere you looked around the hotel there were always a cleaner cleaning. We met some reallly good friends there as did the children.
The only bad point i would like to make is the all inclusive stopping at 11 pm, we found this to be too early, but i wouldnt say it ruined our holiday!
As i said earlier we had a lovely time and hope to return again next year, as long as JMC run it again. Was this review helpful to you? YesNoAlbenakate and emma | 2 out of 2 found this review helpfulfirst of all on arrival at the hotel, we were informed the restaurant, was closed and food was placed in our rooms. this consisted of a sandwhich with one peice of cheese on stale hard bread and a bottle of warm water, with that we went to the reception to get a soft drink, only to be told you cant be given nor buy anything after 11 am, after asking 3 times we were informed the receptionist was not trained to push the button on the drinks machine. then to make things worse they had ran out of water. so alltogether a great start to a worse week. when we booked the holiday with thomas cook for an allinclusive holiday at hotel magnolia ([+]view more) the folling information was on the web page: international entertainment in sister hotel, an la cart menu one night a week (booked 24 hours in advance) international buffet, and sat t.v. none of which was true, we were told that this was last year, and no longer exsisted, in which case we were on the wrong holiday. however we did get : rude bar staff who loved to use dirty cups and glasses, spagetti and brock, stale mouldy bread non exsistance coffee, we stoped eating in the hotel the food was that bad. you will be charged for cocktails, weather they have any sprit in it or not, reception have no information on the area, nor does the rep. we hired a car and went everywhere on our own, best thing to do. we cannot complain about the hotel room it was very clean, smartly turned out, the resort its self is very beautiful, beach ,stunning, bars in the town great we found a great bar poco loco great food, and everywhere very cheap, if you go to varna what out for pickpockets we caught them, with their hands in our bags. Was this review helpful to you? YesNoAlbenakim | 2 out of 2 found this review helpfulwe have just returned the best part of our holiday was to come home the food was not fit for anything the best thing about magnolia was it was clean the staff were rude and disliked children. i will not be returning to bulgaria again. Was this review helpful to you? YesNoAlbenaaldred | 1 out of 1 found this review helpfulJust returned from 1 week here and enjoyed it, although the food was bearable it was often cold and repetative but edible. The pool is excellent with 2 slides and lots of sunbeds & parasols, staff are wonderful and very eager to please. Hotel is spotless and rooms cleaned every day to a very good standard - the bathrooms only have showers not baths. The town of Albena is close but to walk you have to go down a lot of steps so better to get the little train or taxi for a small amount. We met a very nice taxi driver called "Miro" and he drove us all over for very little money and was a very nice man - it is worth knowing that a little ([+]view more) tip goes a long way with the Bulgarians and the shopping is excellent with designer names at very low prices.
There is very little to do however if the weather is bad so pray for good weather and you won't be dissapointed! Was this review helpful to you? The hotel was fantastic, we have got no complaints whatsoever. It's very clean and the staff is very polite and pleasant. We will definitely be going back and recommend staying at the Magnolia to everyone! Was this review helpful to you? YesNoAlbenajmr | 1 out of 1 found this review helpfulWe had a fantastic holiday in Albena and the Magnolia was a great hotel, most of the staff were very friendly with the exception of one young girl who worked the main bar near reception, she was rude and arrogant and not people friendly.
The rooms were very clean and the linen changed regularly. It was all inclusive and anyone was able to use the restaurant whether they were resident or not- nobody checked and many people abused this by taking food out of there. The swimming pool was great but used by many hotels, and outsiders would reserve beds before breakfast.
We will definately return to Albena but not All inclusive ([+]view more) as it is do cheap to eat out its and you can vary the entertainment each night. There is no entertainment in this hotel.
Designer clothes are very reasonable in VARNA.Was this review helpful to you? YesNoAlbenaAstrid van Dijk | 1 out of 1 found this review helpfulI visited this hotel in may this year with my husband and my baby marc.(We live in Holland)
