This was our 3rd visit to Bulgaria and was by far and away the best hotel. Nice large room on the 9th floor with lovely sea view, as ‘park view’ is stretching the imagination a bit (overlooks road, ground clearance and a few trees) We did encounter a problem of no water on a couple of mornings which was the only minus of being on the top floor.
Hotel was spotlessly clean and staff very helpful and polite. The food we found to be excellent, especially anything that was cooked in a sauce. The animation team worked really hard and put on a couple of really good shows, but if not to your taste, there were plenty of bars with different entertainment ([+]view more) nearby.
Pool area was rather small but beach just across the road. Sun beds on the beach were about £5 a day. The indoor pool was warm and an asset for us.
Our only disappointment was the lack of public transport, but taxi’s were plentiful and cheap (if negotiated price first)
Everything was extremely cheap and overall our holiday was excellent value for money. We will return in the near future.

Last new years i was there, it was the best! very nice atmosphere, helpful personal and nice food. The inside pool is just great with hot water, consicering that outyside temp. was -3 the pools water was 34 :) Wonderful place to go!
This year i am heading again to there for the new years eve!

I just came back from a great vacation in Bulgaria!
Hotel was very cozy and clean, food was delicious, people helpful and friendly.
If anybody coplains, it's due to their disrespect for other cultures -such people would complain even if there were sent to paradize-too hot or ..not hot enough-some people are simply impossible to please. Bulgaria is not a British colony-they have their own independent culture, including art, cuisine and alphabet. Who else in Europe has devised their own alphabet, except for the greeks and the romans? The Bulgarians! Show some respect-it's wonderful place!

im sorry, but i do not agree. i got back this morning, i left the hotel last night and ok, i didnt get 14 evening meals but i was offered one the first morning we got there, so that was the 14. there are no kids running round puttin hands in the food or sneezing over it. u obviously expect too much of places. i think its fantastic. so to anyone thinking of going, go!! and say hi to the little boy that plays the xylophone thing!!! hes gr8!!!

If you have not booked your holiday yet or can feign death and claim insurance there is still time to back out.

Yes, I agree with the other reviewers that the hotel has great rooms with comfy beds, nice bathrooms and fantastic sea views from your personal balcony.
But when we arrived at 2am our room had been given to someone else.

Other reviewers I presume must have kids. We personally are too old to be eating in a school canteen with all the kids running around playing with the buffet food in their hands then putting it back for you to eat (other kids simply cough and sneeze all over it). We had dodgy guts a couple of days.

Pools ([+]view more) too small with everyone fighting for sunbeds. Charges to use sunbeds on beach.

Book 7 nights half board and get 6 evening meals.

But the main warning is the weather - just back and it rained with thunderstorms 3 out of seven days - trees brought down in Varna - fire brigade had to have three pumps pumping water from hotel basement. People before us had 11 rainy days in a fortnight. Forecast for next week poor too.

And get ready to be pestered every twenty feet by touts pushing nightclub leaflets at you - the first couple of hundred times was Ok then it just got very annoying.

But if you are looking for a cheap holiday for you and your kids - you will have a great time (weather permitting) and I recommend the hotel to you - it is one of the best in the resort. But if like us you are a childless couple and never thought through the pitfalls of booking into Bulgaria's Butlins - now is the time to run like the wind.

Just got back from 2 weeks fantastic holiday at this hotel. Food excellent many choices both at breakfast and evening meal. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice large towels a must for me! Sea view superb. Suggest you book sea view as garden view not good. Reception area of hotel also excellent lots of seating and cosy bar. Would recomend this hotel to anyone and I am not easy to please! Also wouls agree with statement above this is the better side of the resort with no building work taking place at present.

We booked a partial ocean view for one week at the Hotel Obzor.  It's somewhat difficult to see the distinction between Obzor and Izgrev since they do share all facililties, activities, and employee uniforms.  The location was excellent- close enough to the center for a stroll along the esplanade, and far enough away that you could get away from the noise at night.  I really liked that the hotel was across the street from the beach.

spent two weeks in this hotel and all i will say is,
excellent !!!

Yesterday we came back from Golden Sands. We stayed in hotel Iberostar Obzor/Izgrev.
This two hotel(connected to each other) the room are the same in both hotels. They share the dinner-buffet and breakfast-buffet. Both are very ,very complete. All kinds of food, too much to tell all!!!!.
It was a GREAT pleasure to stay in the hotel.
The rooms are big, clean, we booked a seaview room, it was marvellous!!
Very kindly staff and helpers all around the hotel.
To the centre is about 1000 meter, you can go there walking, by bike-cab, by tourist-train, by solar-taxicab. Very cheap.
Much pleasure in this both hotels!!
